Frequently Asked Questions
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR INSTALIFT THREADS?
We usually recommend InstaLift threads for patients who have lax skin that is noticeably aging their face. Additionally, the treatment can be beneficial for patients hoping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and can even be combined with injectable treatments in order to further enhance the results. However, InstaLift threads are typically only suitable for mild to moderate cases of loose skin. Patients with severe skin are likely better candidates for a traditional facelift.
HOW DO INSTALIFT THREADS WORK?
This procedure is performed using local anesthesia in one of our private treatment rooms. Dr. Hanz will then mark each of the entry and exit points on your face with a marker in order to ensure optimal results. At this point, he will begin threading the dissolvable sutures through the skin, lifting up the skin in the process. These sutures will stay under the skin, slowly dissolving over the coming months, which encourages the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin: two vital proteins when it comes to the overall health of the skin. In total, this can usually be completed in about an hour.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM INSTALIFT THREADS?
As soon as the procedure is over, patients are free to return home to rest. During these first few days, patients may notice some redness, bruising, and/or swelling, though these side effects should be minor and subside on their own. While results will be noticeable immediately, they will only continue to improve in the following months. Most patients can expect these results to last for about 18 months before they may begin to dissipate.
